At IveyCraftHouse, when we get asked to help create for a wedding, especially a fall wedding, we jump right in. Fall weddings are our favorite because all the rich colors make for amazing pictures.
We decided to not only make a sign to welcome guests but to also make the sign a keepsake. This wonderful couple took the name plate with their wedding date and placed it inside their china cabinet.
Here at IveyCraftHouse, we ALWAYS have scrap wood on hand. I knew in my mind that I wanted to be able to hang this sign from a shepherd's hook. I also knew it needed to be a good size since it would be at the entrance to the venue.
I found 3 nice pieces of wood that were the same thickness and cut the pieces to size, including the arrow.
I went to our local home improvement store and found the accent piece for the top, just because I thought it needed to be 3D looking.
Of course many years ago I purchased a cutting machine, so I designed the words and name with the date in my program for that. I cut them to use as a stencil since vinyl will wear and lift over time .
I knew I wanted to paint the wood a nice light color, so I went with Apple Barrel brand in Marshmallow. The words and accent piece was done in black since it would be the first thing guests would see at the venue entrance and not to take away from the gorgeous fall mums and pumpkins that went along with the display. I always have hangers of different materials and sizes stashed in my craft room, so I chose the chain link that would be easily removed when they took it home. I also used simple hooks to hook it all together.
